Goodnature trapping
We recognise the vital role that native wildlife plays in Zealand's ecosystem. Unfortunately, introduced species like rats and stoats can have a devastating impact on our endemic and native species. To combat this threat, we have established a network of 25 Goodnature traps across our properties. As of 30 January 2026, our efforts have successfully accounted for 416 pests, helping to protect and support our local wildlife.
Laundry
Laundry usage in our business is our biggest expense. The linen that we use in our properties is supplied by ALSCO in Nelson. We work with ALSCO in part because their product is high quality and matches the standards we expect across all our properties, but also because as a business, ALSCO are strong on sustainability. They use wooden pellets as fuel for their boiler, They operate with reduced water use due to the operation of a Continuous Batch Washer. They repurpose our textiles once they are no longer fit for purpose as accommodation linen and they are in the process of a business case to install a solar system to their building in Nelson.

Culture and History
Our part of the West Coast is steeped in resourse exploration history and we are proud to share our knowledge and experience with those that visit the area. 100 years ago Fox River was known as Brighton, and had a population of over 6,000 people seeking riches (Gold). Today Fox River has a population of less than 80 and is focused around one of NZ's last remaining hippie communities, founded in the early 1970's to preserve and nurture their way of life while retaining its natural values.
History is what makes us who we are and is what helps us shape our future.
Environment
In our business we prioritise the health of our environment in every decision we make. From carefully selecting a range of Ecostore products for our guests, to utilising Earthwise cleaning solutions in our properties. We are committed to sustainable practices and responsible waste recycling and we sort our property waste into glass, plastics, tin and cardboard and food compost to minimise what has to go to landfill.
We believe that every small action we make contributes to a healthier New Zealand for all.
